Diabetes Cure - Whole Grains and Diabetes Symptoms

What is a whole grain?  Whole grains or foods made from whole grains contain all the essential parts and naturally-occurring nutrients of the entire grain seed. Whole grains are grains that contain germ, endosperm, and bran, in contrast to refined grains, which retain only the endosperm.

Whole grains can generally be sprouted while refined grains generally will not sprout. Wholemeal products are made by grinding whole grains in order to make wholegrain flour. Whole grains are a natural source of protein as well as a source of carbohydrates and are made into many different kinds of foods.

We recommend only 100% whole grains for any flour product you digest. When you look at the baked item the ingredient label it should say 

  • Whole Grain Wheat or Whole Wheat
  • Brown or wild rice 
  • Whole or Rolled Oats
  • Millet
  • Barley (hulled and dehulled) Not pearl
  • Maize
  • Whole Corn (Masa is not whole corn)
  • Rye
  • Spelt
  • Farro
  • Emmer
  • Amaranth
  • Triticale
  • Teff

These are considered whole grains. 

Diabetes Cure - Look For The 100% Whole Grain Stamp.

Look for gold label that says 100% whole grain. In 2005, the Whole Grains Council initiated two stamps to help consumers find products containing whole grains. The first gold “Basic Whole Grain Stamp” is used to identify those products that contain at least eight grams of whole grains per serving. This product will usually contain some extra bran, germ, or refined flour. We do not recommend that you buy this type of product.

  • The gold “100% Whole Grain Stamp,” is applied to products that are made with 100 percent whole grains and provide one serving or more (at least 16 grams) of whole grains per serving. The “100% Stamp” means that ALL of the grains in the product are whole. The products with this 100% whole grain stamp on them are the products we recommend you buy.

It is NOT whole grain if the ingredients say cracked wheat, made with whole grain,  made with whole wheat, wheat flour, multi-grain, oat bran, seven-bran, 12-bran, seven-grain, nine-grain, stoned wheat, wheat, wheatberry, whole bran. These are examples of refined grains. These are not whole grains.

Most people can not tell weather they are buying whole grains or not. The reason for this is the food industry specifically causes confusion on the labels. They will make ingredients sound like whole grains when in fact they are not. An example of this is the ingredient wheat meal. This sounds like whole wheat grain but it is not. How about cream of wheat this sounds like a whole grain but it is not. Cherrios says whole grain oats. This is a whole grain because it says whole grain.

It must say the word whole or whole grain. If it says made with whole grain only a small portion of the product has whole grain in it. It is best to stick with products that say 100% whole grain.


Cereals that are made with whole grains include Cherrios, Granola, Grape-Nuts, Nutri-Grain, Raisin Bran, Shredded Wheat, Total, Wheat Germ, Wheaties,  Oat Bran, Oatmeal, Quaker Multigrain, Ralston High Fiber, Roman Meal and Wheatena.


If the product doesn't say whole grain on the ingredients label don't buy it! If it has any soy, soya, soy lecithin, soy extract or any soy product do not buy it. Un-fermented soy is VERY poisonous to our bodies! The only fermented soy on the market is miso soup and soy sauce.


Almost all baked goods are made with either bad flour, bad oils or both.

Wheat flour is bleached using Chlorine gas.
This is what turns it white. The problem is a toxic chemical is produced called alloxan which stays in the flour. When you eat the bleached flour it goes into your body and destroys the beta cells in your pancreas. Your pancreas is responsible for making insulin! ( Alloxan is a toxic glucose analogue, which selectively destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas when administered to rodents and many other animal species.)

Alloxan is used by scientist to induce diabetes in lab animals because it destroys the insulin-producing function of the pancreas, allowing glucose levels to shoot sky-high. The pancreas does not heal itself like the liver so white flour is a very important food to avoid.
 
If that isn't bad enough, most white bread is made with hydrogenated oils, canola oil and/or soy products or a combination of these bad oils and bad ingredients. 
 
Most Ground Corn is NOT a Whole Grain !
 
When you are trying to lower your sugar levels ground corn should be eliminated from your diet until your sugar levels return to normal. If you are eating a peice of corn that is fine because it contains all elements of the whole corn seed.
 
A good way to tell if a seed is whole grain or not is to ask the question, Can the seed be planted and grow? If the answer is yes, then it is a whole grain.
 
If you are eating a product that contains all elements of the seed then you are eating a whole grain product. 
 
Refined grains have been milled, a process that removes the bran and germ. This is done to give grains a finer texture and improve their shelf life, but it also removes dietary fiber, iron, and many B vitamins. Some examples of refined grain products are:
  • White flour
  • Degermed cornmeal
  • Corn starch
  • White bread
  • White rice
  • Cornbread
  • Corn tortillas - The outer bran layer of the corn has been removed in masa products
  • Grits
  • Any ground corn product that removes the bran and germ elements of the seed
Most refined grains are enriched. This means certain B vitamins (thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folic acid) and iron are added back after processing. Fiber is not added back to enriched grains. Do not each ANY enriched products!!! Some food products are made from a mixture of whole grains and refined grains. These products should also be avoided.
